I’m a big proponent of upcycling, reusing, and generally getting as much out of things as one can. Sometimes that involves repairing broken parts, and other times it can involve clever upgrades. This is one of the latter. Background: I get medicine delivered with ice packs and the box is insulated in this recycled fabric batting. I work outdoors a lot and often times the ice packs in my lunch cooler don’t really last all day. Having a steady small supply of this batting, I decided to add insulation to the lunch cooler. What makes this easier is that the cooler has a zip-out liner so it can be removed for thorough cleaning. Here’s some photos of this project from start to finish. I was sort of worried that I’d loose too much interior space from extra insulation, but as you can see, I still have plenty of room for a multi-part lunch, including cold drink.

I’m pretty sure this is going to work as an excellent upgrade. I used example containers in configurations I often bring a lunch or lunch/dinner combo in. Since I work outside where it can genuinely get to be 120F, I’m hopeful this will allow everything to stay cooler longer.
What is your most clever reuse/repurpose/upcycle project? Let me know in the comments.
